Based on the source indicated below I strongly propose following three very light-weight and open standards in order to ease auto-discovery of geodata:
Based on the source indicated below I strongly propose following in order to ease auto-discovery of geodata:
# Cross-links (i.e. Atom link relation types that provide semantics what this link means) in sitemaps.xml, KML, GeoRSS and HTML to help crawlers..
# A "see and see also" file containing typified weblinks that provide semantics to help focussed crawlers.
# OpenSearch-Geo interface for harvesters
## Weblink typing: xlink Atom link relation type,
# Geotag icon for humans
## Carrier file formats: HTML (Meta Tags) sitemaps.xml , KML, GeoRSS (xlinks)

# Geotag icon (Microformat) for human readability and trustworthiness.
What do you think?
# A leightweight haversting interface like OpenSearch-Geo
* ...
# Extension of GetCapabilities from OGC WxS specifications

Notes about auto-discovery of geodata by Stefan Keller:

Based on the source indicated below I strongly propose following in order to ease auto-discovery of geodata:

  1. A "see and see also" file containing typified weblinks that provide semantics to help focussed crawlers.
    1. Weblink typing: xlink Atom link relation type,
    2. Carrier file formats: HTML (Meta Tags) sitemaps.xml , KML, GeoRSS (xlinks)
  2. Geotag icon (Microformat) for human readability and trustworthiness.
  3. A leightweight haversting interface like OpenSearch-Geo
  4. Extension of GetCapabilities from OGC WxS specifications
